let's face the truth: webOS is dead. uberdead
the basics are less usable from day to day as the corresponding apis of the internetservices change, development and bugfixing is zero. imho no future (to be fair: yes, email still works...)

now what? I dislike android iphöne and winmob. my though: why not completely switch the smartphone snort off.
no emails everywhere and always, no social networking on the couch, no instant messanger while brushing the teeth.

My new phones akku lasts 16 days, the brick is capable of bluetooth for my car and is looking _very_ oldschool

Assembloids, a puzzle reaction game, hit the C64 Market.
Even though it has been available for quiet a long time as download, 'heavystylus' started selling it as Cartridge Version.
No need to tell you that I love Mr. Monkmans Carts, with the lovely stickers inside the cardboard boxes. So I purchased my Cart and I am really happy about it

The C64 Version is a bit faster and more tricky than the flash version, but the characters look quiet idetntically. The Pixel Artist is called ILKke and (ftw) all robots really look heavyly inspired by Ptoing, my #1 pixelat0r ...

Ich befasse mich seit ein paar Wochen ernsthaft mit der Frage meinem Ältesten das Programmieren näher zu bringen. Zum einen, weil er nur noch vor seinem Händy sitzt und spielt (was ich für nicht wahnsinnig produktiv halte) zum anderen weil ein guter Freund eine "Programierumgebung" für Kinder entwickelt und veröffentlicht hat:

KodeKLIX ist eine großartige, leicht zu benutzende Software, die es ohne große Mühe erlaubt eigene Applikationen für die sogenannte PUP Handheld Konsole zu schreiben. http://www.kodeklix.com/apps.htm#sthash.3kUrvDUi.dpuf


Für rund 100 Euro bekommt man die Konsole mit allem was dazu gehört, Schulen bekommen bei Abnahme größerer Mengen einen Preisnachlass.

Der Vorteil an der Software ist neben der erwähnten Einfachheit die Möglichkeit mit anderen Jungprogrammierern Kontakt aufzunehmen, um sich online Programme, Grafiken und Sounds auszutauschen.


Ich habe noch eine Alternative: das im Blog schon öfter erwähnte Raspberry Pi bietet auch leicht zu erlernende Programmiersprachen und Werkzeuge an. Hier habe ich 2 besonders erwähnenswerte Anleitungen gefunden:

Ich bin Besitzer eines Nintendo 3DS seit er erschien. Mich hat es nicht gestört dass ich den hohen Preis am Anfang latzen musste, ich bin mir des "muss-ich-haben" Nerdaufschlages bewusst.

Nach fast 2 Jahren habe ich aber einen Mangel feststellen müssen:
Der Rahmen des unteren (Touch-) Bildschirmes kratzt am oberen 3D Bildschirm, der 30% größer ist, so daß man links und rechts einen senkrechten Kratzer hatte. Am Anfang nur ein kleiner, dünner, zum Schluß einen den 3D Effekt beeinträchtigenden.

Ich habe die Fehlerbeschreibung gegoogelt und festgestellt, daß ich nur einer von vielen war, bei denen dieses Problem auftrat. und da die Garantiezeit kurz vor dem Ablauf war, entschloß ich mich den GB einzuschicken.
Man füllt ein Formular uaf der nintendo Homepage aus, steckt den 3DS gut gepolstert in ein Päckchen und ehe man sich versieht, ist er wieder zurück, mit neuer "Scheibe" im oberen Gehäuse und mit längeren Gummipuffern. Das Problem wurde also erkannt und behoben.

I've been playing with Linux since 1995 and in the very beginning it was a pain in the ass for me and my friends to use it properly and productive. The missing drivers were the main problem. no matter if you were using an isdn card or a scanner, you coulnd't find, compile or write your own drivers. Hardware vendors did their best to keep it this way. There has been no support, no drivers or anything else for any system except windows. I do not want to discuss the reasons here, but as the headline states: exactly this is now the best part of Linux.

Timewarp. 2013. some examples:
I have a cheap Nikon Camera, plug it into my linux desktop and bing, am able to control it completely with my gphoto program, take photos, download them on the computer, compile timelaps films, etc.
Or my scanner, an Canon scansomething. plug and scan. The program "sane" just uses it as any other newer scanner.
My HP Laserjet: just plug it in, use a common pcl driver and CUPS, and print, even in duplex mode.
There are so many examples on how easy Linux is to be used nowadays. No driver CD's needed. Just simply use the tools.

Thew Hardware support is so extreme good because of the need to build common interfaces with little device specific code at the backend. You do not need to install a bloated 40 megabyte diver suite for your scanner, with unusable software , which will probably never be updated again or a 54 megabyte printer driver for just showing you the status of the toner cart...

I hear people talking about a problem in the linux desktop market, but in my view windows has the problem. Drivers refuse to work in newer win versions, older programs refuse to, also. The user interface has been made unusable, even worse is the most used program "word". O M G - completely totally unusable. terrifying

This whole situation, combined with easy to install and use distributions like Fuduntu blow away all doubts: Linux will dominate the whole pc market in a couple of years, not only the servers.

p.s. yes, apple os is indeed usable, stable, good looking and very good in hardware support (due to the lack of hardware :P ) but not affordable to everyone.
