A Piratebox is something like a open Wifi with a BBS in the back. You could surf it with a browser when you are near.

I've had it running for nearly 10 years, here in my shop in FFM.

It offered a message Base and a file base.

It was just sitting there and noone ever logged in. The software was unsupported since 2019 Today I pulled the plug.
