Kerb 2025

Here in Germany we do not have Oktoberfest everywhere. In the middle we have a thing called "Kirchweih" or short Kerwa or Kerb. The best translation would be Church fair. Every small village has this fest, And back in the days this was a huuuuge thing in one villages life. The fest usually started on thursday and you had to drink though monday or even tuesday. All young unmarried men had the right to be "Kerweborsch" and drink as much as possible fits during this time. btw: In northern germany the tend to have the "Schützenfest" translated: shooting festival. The purpose of all theese fests is to simply drink and meet and chatter. The last big Kerb in the area I live is the Laurentiuskerb in Usingen. (Laurentius is the patron saint of the church there).

And when we were kids, we had monday afternoon school off for attending in the tend and havin fun. Remember, drinking is more or less allowed from 16 on.... but noone cares if you are 14. So we kept this tradition throughout all the years and met on monday to delete our harddrives. But now that we turn older and have kids there drinking too, we just show up on sunday and have a few beer. So it was yesterday. What a great weather, what a funny Kerb. Thanks to the organizing local organizations. I just hope this fest will go on for some more years.

No pictures taken, btw :D
